I am passionate about social media and politics. The Internet has ALWAYS been about connecting people. I saw that 20 years ago when a friend showed me Mosaic. I've been working to integrate it into politics, advocacy and media ever since. I taught the world's first college course on internet politics (1995) at Gorge Mason University and led the first state & local digital politics consultancy (2000) at Stateside Associates. I created and hosted live webcasted programming from the 2000 presidential nominating conventions with Media Bureau Networks. I spent 6 years running the online advocacy program at the Center for American Progress and 4 years creating and running Lake Research Partners' Digital Research division. I've trained more than 20,000 people (and counting) to use digital and social media to change their countries, including civil society organizers from across the Arab world, a very famous movie director, major news media outlets and journalists, Members of Congress and two future kings. I am a partner at Turner4D and a partner at Unfiltered.Media, as well as an adjunct professor at George Washington University's Graduate School of Political Management, American U.'s Public Affairs and Advocacy Institute, Baruch College, and Johns Hopkins University.
